Review: Smashbox Try It Kit

Ok so I bought the Smashbox Try It Kit some time ago at Ulta on a mini shopping spree. I had been interested in Smashbox products for some time because I had heard a lot about them and thought the try it kit was the perfect way to get a taste of some of their most popular products. The kit comes with the photo finish foundation primer, photo finish lid primer, limitless eye liner (in onyx), hyperlash mascara (in blackout) and lip enhancing gloss (in illume). Now all of these products are small hence try it kit but you do get enough to really get an idea about the products.

Photo finish foundation primer: For those of you familiar with Dermalogica products this primer will remind you of barrier repair. I compared the ingredients for both of these products and they are very similar but I would say that the photo finish primer is a little more comedogenic. It's a really smooth silicone gel like substance it just glides on the skin and does not leave it oily and you only need a little bit. My foundation looked great all day. I'm defiantly going to add this product to my fave list.

Photo finish lid primer: No. Just no. I had high hopes for this primer but I was unfortunately let down. I tried it both with and without a eyeshadow crayon base and my shadows still creased. I used this product several time and always the same result CREASING SHADOWS. :(

Limitless eye liner- I'm always on the hunt for great eye liners that don't smear through out the day and this one is it! If I put this eye liner on at 8:00 am it is still there when I go to take it off at night. Perfect.

Hyperlash mascara- Ehh it's mascara, not much to say after that. I do like the wand though.

Lip enhancing gloss- I was a little put off by the "lip enhancing" because I already have all the lips I need, but once I put this lip gloss on I loved it. I don't know if the lip enhancing means that it is supposed to be lip plumping or just make the lips look better. Either way I loved it, it smells great (like cupcakes yum!) The color is almost clear so you can put it over lipstick to give it a shine or put it on by itself and go right out the door.

I enjoyed this try it kit and think it would be great if a lot more companies did something like it to allow the customer to get introduced to some of their most popular or newer products. I'm defiantly going to be purchasing the photo finish primer, eye liner and the lip gloss in full sizes.
