Kit progression
I found a wonderful website that is perfect for makeup artists pretty much everything you need. I'll do a post later on about what I plan to get and another one after I make my order.

Im Baaaaaaack!
Hello ladies! I am back in full swing, I got a new laptop and camera for Christmas. Not to mention tons of makeup. So I have lots of fun things coming up.
This blog started as a school project, but I think I'm going to keep it up as I move forward in my career. Oh yeah and I passed my practical next stop theory!

I've met my match
As much as I love makeup and hate my hyperpigmentation I have never been one to wear makeup everyday. BUT since my recent purchase of MAC's pro longwear concealer I have been wearing makeup everyday. Even on days when I say I don't feel like putting on any makeup I soon find myself with a concealer brush in my hand and a smile on my face. I purchased the concealer in NW45 which is my exact skin color, so I could just conceal what I need to on my face and litteraly do nothing else to my face and go on with my day. I usually do dust a little pressed powder on anyway just to set the concealer and it stays all day. Anywho at first I had decided that I did not want to purchase a liquid concealer but Im glad I did. Yeah, I really don't have much else to say other than I LOVE THIS CONCEALER!

Primer Police
Back again and I think I've found one!
There has been so much chatter in the cyber makeup world about Too Faced shadow insurance for a very long time now. But I had been reluctant to try it for no real reason at all. But on a recent trip to Sephora I saw that they had a shelf with 80 % off select items and what do I find? A small Too Faced makeup bag with shadow insurance in it as well as an eye shadow duo and one of their eye liners, so of course I couldn't turn it down because I got all that for only 10 dollars. When shadow insurance is put on they lid it goes on smoothly and doesn't leave the lid matte. So I was a little thrown off at first because I felt there would be nothing for the shadow to stick to. Silly me, even with my oily eye lids my shadows stay ALMOST all day. I do experience a little creasing around the 6th hour of having my makeup on but no fading. Over all I give this product an B+ so the search continues but for right now I'm happy with my shadow insurance.

Say that again!!!
Previously I did a review on the Smashbox Try It Kit which included a mascara and basically in that review all I said about the mascara was "ehh it's mascara." Well I take that back I love that mascara! It really grabs the bottom lashes and coats them well so they are easier to see without using a microscope. It works really well on the top lashes as well. The reason I was not very fond of this mascara at first was because I was using it in combination with another mascara, because for some reason I was on a mascara cocktail kick a few months ago. But when I started using it alone I discovered my love for it.

She strikes again...
The junkie in me has struck again. I just put in an order over at cherryculture.com. I feel like I haven't purchased makeup in so long and as I was looking at my collection today I just felt sad. Which lead me to my computer and then to cherryculture and then to my wallet. But at least I got free shipping! *soft sigh* And seeing that I recently did a post about people that only buy one brand of makeup, it was only fitting that I purchased only NYX products. I know, I know shame on me. Anyway I will do a review after every thing gets here. Oh and I'll do another post about things I plan to buy in the near (or not so near) future.

Just to name a few
*Picture me in the cosmetic version of Brown Sugar* "So when did you fall in love with makeup." If you've never seen the movie Brown Sugar then just... never mind. But the question is, when did you fall in love with makeup? For me the year was 2007 and I was just a kid at home watching youtube videos thinking "I wonder if I can do that?" So I went out and purchased some Loreal eye shadow duos and went to work. Don't judge me they were all the rage when I first started doing makeup. I practiced and practiced until I got pretty good. But it wasn't until I saw Erin over at scandalousbeautyonline.com that I realized that I could do what I loved and make money. Since youtube was a large part of my start I've decided that I will share some of my favorite youtubers with you all.

Im probably going to be upset with myself for this
But, I want to create a look book. You know almost like an online portfolio. I haven't put too much thought into it, it was just one of those ideas that hit me and I thought it may be interesting. I do know that I will not start on it until after I have finished a project I have for class... Oh hey Ms. Smalls girl. Moving along, let me know if that is something you would like to see from me in the future.

Train case progression
So I told you ladies that I am working on my professional train case. The first step to that would be the train case! Well not really I'm probably not going to purchase the train case until I run out of storage for the things I'm going to put in the case. Anyway here is the one I'm looking at. Cute huh?!

Ultra calming facial demo
I love Dermalogica's ultra calming products. Great for sensitive and sensitized skin. So I found this demo of an ultra calming facial and decided to share. Enjoy!

Review: Smashbox Try It Kit
Ok so I bought the Smashbox Try It Kit some time ago at Ulta on a mini shopping spree. I had been interested in Smashbox products for some time because I had heard a lot about them and thought the try it kit was the perfect way to get a taste of some of their most popular products. The kit comes with the photo finish foundation primer, photo finish lid primer, limitless eye liner (in onyx), hyperlash mascara (in blackout) and lip enhancing gloss (in illume). Now all of these products are small hence try it kit but you do get enough to really get an idea about the products.
Photo finish foundation primer: For those of you familiar with Dermalogica products this primer will remind you of barrier repair. I compared the ingredients for both of these products and they are very similar but I would say that the photo finish primer is a little more comedogenic. It's a really smooth silicone gel like substance it just glides on the skin and does not leave it oily and you only need a little bit. My foundation looked great all day. I'm defiantly going to add this product to my fave list.
Photo finish lid primer: No. Just no. I had high hopes for this primer but I was unfortunately let down. I tried it both with and without a eyeshadow crayon base and my shadows still creased. I used this product several time and always the same result CREASING SHADOWS. :(
Limitless eye liner- I'm always on the hunt for great eye liners that don't smear through out the day and this one is it! If I put this eye liner on at 8:00 am it is still there when I go to take it off at night. Perfect.
Hyperlash mascara- Ehh it's mascara, not much to say after that. I do like the wand though.
Lip enhancing gloss- I was a little put off by the "lip enhancing" because I already have all the lips I need, but once I put this lip gloss on I loved it. I don't know if the lip enhancing means that it is supposed to be lip plumping or just make the lips look better. Either way I loved it, it smells great (like cupcakes yum!) The color is almost clear so you can put it over lipstick to give it a shine or put it on by itself and go right out the door.
I enjoyed this try it kit and think it would be great if a lot more companies did something like it to allow the customer to get introduced to some of their most popular or newer products. I'm defiantly going to be purchasing the photo finish primer, eye liner and the lip gloss in full sizes.

Skin Care...
Finally back to the original purpose of this blog SKIN CARE!
I have combination skin, I usually get comedones along my chin and I have some hyperpigmentation. This information should help explain the products that I use. (All products are Dermelogica)
Everyday use:
-ultra calming or special cleanser
-active moist (occasionally skin smoothing)
-daily micro (every other day)
Once a week:
-skin resurfacing cleanser
-daily resurfacer
Every other week:
-chroma white cleanser
-Microdermabrasion

STOP RIGHT THERE, it's the primer police
As you may or may not know a good eye primer is one of my many makeup obsessions. So I have a nice little collection of different eye primers, or things that I have used as eye primers that I have tried and either loved or hated. So in these Primer Police posts (say that 3 times fast) I will give my opinions on a primer of my choice.
The first primer I have chosen to review is bareMinerals' Prime Time eyelid primer. This was one of the first primers that I purchased when the primer bug first bit me. Like most primers, bareMinerals advises that you user theirs with their eye shadows. But what fun is having make up if you don't mix it together to create your own look? I'm not very fond of this product because I have very oily eyelids and it is an oil based primer, which makes sense because bM are loose powders and what better for them to stick to than oil (or bees wax which is what is in the product). I usually use some sort of color crayon as a base for my shadows to stick to, so the bM primer combined with the color crayons were defiantly too much oil for my eyelids and my shadows crease very quickly. But all is not lost, I have found a spot for bM Prime Time! I use it on my bottom lash line when I want to add color and have it stick. So unfortunately the search continues for the perfect primer....
(I just realized how annoying the word primer is. Ughh.)

Thoughts and things of that nature.......
Since Dorothy is making such a speedy recovery I'm starting to think more about upcoming posts. I've got a few ideas which I will share now.
The infamous MAC. This post will be mostly about MAC heads and my opinion on them. And I feel like I'm giving up too much about it already.
Reviews. And let me go ahead and get this out of the way. I'm not one of those people that reviews everything my readers ask me to. It's not like I have a lot of readers YET, but doing a lot of reviews is just not practical for me yet.
Professional train case. Which is something I'm currently working on. So I would certainly love for you all to go on this journey with me.
Back to the intended purpose of this blog SKIN CARE!
I have something newish that I'm doing to my eyebrows. Guess I'll share that too. Because I am obsessed with eyebrows.
If you have any suggestions for things you would like me to blog about shoot me an email at sheblushlust@gmail.com or just leave a comment below. :)

In my Comfort Zone
After hearing and seeing all of the chatter in the cyber beauty world about new Wet n Wild products, I finally broke down and purchased a Wet n Wild coloricon palette. Breaking the promise that I made to myself that I would hit pan on at least 30% of my eye shadows before I purchased anymore. (How I would determine 30% I don't know but the rule just made me feel good about myself) I really like this palette it is now my go to for a natural everyday look because all the colors I need are all in one place. Ok now lets get to what you really want to know.
Cost: $4.68 plus tax at Wal-Mart
Pigmentation: Wonderful! In fact I find myself having to be careful about not just digging into some colors with my brush because I could pick up way too much product.
I had this post typed and ready to go a long time ago, don't know why I didn't post it.

Snap Crackle Pop
I saw the crackle/shattered nail polish about a month ago and thought "oh that's cute" and politely kept it moving. Well this week I stopped and bought. I saw the China Glaze crackle set at Cosmo Prof and finally decided to give it a try but what I was originally looking for was the Katy Perry shatter polish from OPI but the rep told me that it has been really hard to find ever since it came out. Anyway I bought the entire China Glaze set for $8.99 and I have to say it was really easy to do and it turned out great!

Im learning
Today I did makeup on one of my classmates and I really learned a lot. Even though I can do makeup on myself and "make it POP" for lack of a better term, I am really self conscious about putting it on other people. I tend to just do a soft everyday natural look on most people. So at first that was the look I did and it looked nice but it wasn't exactly what she was looking for. I started over and with a little coaching from my classmates telling my I could do it (and not to cross contaminate *cough cough*) I did it and in the end everything turned out great I am now more confident and feel like I can step outside of the box more when it comes to doing work on others.

E.l.f brush review
Finally
Ok I purchased these brushes about 3 weeks ago from eyeslipsface.com and have gotten the chance to use them several times. Overall I can say that they are a decent quality. I washed them and got NO I repeat NO shedding at all (from the studio brushes, the regular brushes were shedding all over the place). I had one hair shed from the powder brush! These brushes are synthetic, made from taklon fibers. Very soft! I would most defiantly purchase them again. Did I mention they are only $3.00 for studio brushes and $1.00 for the regular brushes so they are great for someone just starting out or on a budget! My only problem is they are some what light I usually like to use a slightly heavier brush.

Update...
Hello again...
I feel like I have been gone forever but it is so good to be back. I am so ready to put up new posts, unfortunatly FOTDs will be limited, can you believe I left some of my makeup behind when I came back from being of town. Imagine how hurt I was but it should be making its way back to me soon (lets hope all in one piece). Let's see I have a little video coming soon (hopefully) on a review for the e.l.f. brushes I ordered a few weeks ago. What else... *tapping chin* I'll try to do a couple of celebrity looks. As well as weekly esthetick class updates. So that's really all I had to say just wanted to let everyone know I'M BACK!

Has anyone else seen the new limited Edition Peony&Python Palette from Bobbi Brown. #softsigh I want it, the matte purple is gorgeous, plus I'm sort of a sucker for cute packaging! It also comes with two small brushes ehh. Priced at $50.00 I wouldn't call it a steal but hey. Anywho head on over to bobbibrowncosmetics.com to check it out.
Red anyone...
I really like this tutorial for the perfect red lips. I don't know that I would use this exact method but I like her technique.
*I know, I know it's MAC but hey I like MAC sometimes. Well that's an entire seperate blog post. Enjoy.

Update....
Ok this is just a quick little update of the week so far.
-I did some waxing on Monday. Loved it, I think waxing may be my thing. I sort of knew when I first started that I would like waxing but after doing it for the first time I know I like it for sure.
-We went on a field trip to Anne Bonny's today. It's a waxing studio in the area it was interesting to see an independent business and how it runs.
-And I made a purchase with eyeslipsface.com since they were having free shipping and everyone on youtube has been going crazy over these products. So I will do a review and let you all know how I like the things I purchased. (I got free shipping on my order but now the promotion is 50% off the studio line everything I bought is 50% percent off. Mad. But you can't win them all. I'm still happy because I hate paying for shipping)
Warning this is totally ran-dumb
-This lady on the new episode of Criminal Minds is loosing her mind!
Anyway blog you later!

This week in esthetics
Where to start so much happened in class this week...
We had not one but two tests and I aced both of them! Yay me!
We also witnessed live and in living color a male Brazilian waxing. Gentiles don't really bother me so it was no biggie. ( : / )I learned that the more wax you put on it relieves the pain for the client, which is still no consolation for me.
But my personal favorite this week was the hands on activities facials, waxing , and brow tenting.
Oh yeah and we learned about machines boring!
Welp that was pretty much the week in review. Bye guys!
