This Week in Esthetics

Ok so can I just say that I am having soooooo much fun in school right now. Monday we got to give our first facial massages and I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. Although I really don't know but that's the word according to ClientX (insert evil music and laugh here because ClientX sounds so scary). ClientX was a mature individual with rather dry skin so I used an oil for their massage. We got to practice the five types of different massage techniques on them which are effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement and vibration.

Effleurage- soft slow relaxing movements applied with fingers and palms
Petrissage- stimulating the underlying tissue with kneading movements
Friction- rubbing movement
Tapotment- fast tapping movements
Vibration- is exactly what it sounds like

So yeah that's all the technical stuff. Now for the fun stuff. FIELD TRIP TO ULTA FRIDAY!!!!! *and then I hit my dougie*

Because EVERYONE is doing it...

Unfortunately Hollywood usually sets the tone for what is hot and what's not. Celebs will always have some sort of influence on what millions of Americans choose to wear. So with the minimalist trend making it's way back around, many of our favorite style icons have been seen rocking much less make-up than usual. Lately the make-up trend is less is more, with everyone wearing a winged liner with dramatic lashes, a nude eye and a red or pink lip. I don't try to follow every wild trend but there are some days where lashes and a little lipstick will do just fine.

Rapper Nicki Minaj known for her outrageous style and make-up to match seen here with just a simple face and her signature bright pink lip.

Current Lust

These are my current favorite things.

Kiss i-envy lashes in KPE08 Au Naturale01. I love these lashes they are so natural looking. They add length but are not too dramatic. I purchased these at my local beauty supply.

Rimmel lipstick in 006 pink blush. This is a great dupe for MAC's Viva la Gaga. Warning: This color can look a little ashy on some skin tones to tone it down use a slightly darker lip gloss. I use NYX mega shine lip gloss in tea rose.

MAC's dirty plum blush is my absolute favorite right now. It is a great color for all skin types especially women of color. P.S. I got mine from my local CCO so not only can you get it for a cheaper price you can also get it in this cute packaging! Packaging is from the Give me liberty of London collection.

This Week In Esthetics

Ok so this is the first installment of This Week In Esthetics, as stated above. In these post I will share a weekly posts on something that I learned or experienced in class.

I got my first facial! This may come as a surprise seeing that I am going to school to become an esthetician but have never had a facial. But my first love is makeup, so while skin has always been important it has always come second to makeup. Fortunately I don't have many skin issues so as long as my face is clean and I exfoliate weekly, I'm fine. I do have areas where I feel my skin can improve and hope to see them improve as the weeks go on in class.
-Hyperpigmentation on the cheek area
-Blemishes around the chin
-Oily T-zone
-Dry/flaky eyebrows

I don't have a before picture, but here is an after photo and I will continue to post photos as the weeks progress.

OMdoubleG do my eyes look like they have dark circles? Panic. We'll get rid of those too.
Products used on my face are by Dermalogica.
-Special Cleansing Gel
-Ultra Calming Cleanser
-Daily Microfoliant
-Colloidal Masque Base
-Plankton Masque Base

Hello Gorgeous!

Welcome! This is the first entry on a blog that I am hoping will have great success. My original intentions for this blog are to get a good grade in class, Esthetics class that is. My desire is to graduate get a little (a lot of) experience under my belt and eventually open my own cosmetic store. So lets see this blog will be about.... esthetics and and any other random rambling that could possibly come to mind. Blah blah blah I hate introductions so that's all Im going to say for now. BBL.
